The Best Pic I Ever Snapped...

So I was in the woods Sunday cutting up a load of firewood.  I'd found an old reject saw log that had laid there for who knows how long and was hackin' away at it, getting down towards the butt end of it where it was pretty well ate up with bugs and other critters.  I'd sat the saw down and decided that was enough of that log and glanced at the last cut... and saw a little face.  A mouse was zipping back and forth between two holes trying to figure out just what the hell had taken place at the ol' hacienda.  Being taught well by Sally to always have a camera in your pocket, I pulled it out... then decided he seemed pretty patient... so I posed my axe by the log for the whole artsy fartsy thing. (Yes, genius... I know) and started snapping pictures.  What I failed to do was actually take the time to put my glasses on so that I could see the camera (or as Emma and Shelby call it, the Cramera) and see that I was out of focus.

Eh well it's still cute as all get out...

Click for the biggness.

He finally bailed out and made a trip around a tree...

... and then ran back to the hole in the log and disappeared.

Did you leave the log there for him, or is his home firewood?

FYI - You won an award over at my place today.

Heh... Yeah I was a nice guy and left the rest of the log there. Well, as nice as you can be after hacking his home in half with a Stihl chainsaw. :-)

Thanks for my major award, I'll get it up (what?) in the sidebar.

you're so nice, leaving SOME of his home there.

Cora... I'm all 'bout the cute.

Stacie... I just feel that when you go to someone's house, cut it in half with a chainsaw, that it's the only moral thing to do to just leave. :-)

Such a nice guy to leave half his house there. When the aliens come to round us all up, I hope they leave me with at least half of mine.

That was so stinkin' cute, I can't stand it!
Except that we had not one but TWO mice in our new house last month that we absolutely could NOT catch and I developed a real hate for the little buggers.
We went on a 14 day trip to Florida and when we got back, we finally had caught one in a trap (found dead there) and the other?---well we opened the closet and he was slooooowly running around the top shelf, dehyrdrated and in some kind of mouse-high, disoriented.
My husband donned my oven mitts (OMG< did I remember to wash them after??) and caught him and ran outside and threw him over the deck.
Great.
Now the little bugger will find his way to how he got in (in the first place) and make my life a living hell imagining every night in our bedroom that he is crawling everywhere (EEEE-ewww!).
So, that's how I pretty much feel about all mice, in general.
Except YOURS. Because he is so stinkin' cute!

LOL! That was about the cutest thing I've seen in a long time. Mice are definitely cute creatures as long as they are outside. Inside, well, you know......

Thanks for the chuckle!

I see you've changed the layout a bit and the comments show. I like it! :)

Michael, LMAO!!

War of the Roses!! Great pictures, but, sorry, he ain't cute!! I had an empty lot cleared next to my house many years ago, and literally overnight I had like 1MM mice. Ever hear a distraught woman place a 911 call to the pest control police? It's probably still somewhere being played over and over to recruits at the pest control academy!

Thanks for the image that evidently has stuck in my head for quite some time...I just had to come straight here and tell you...I just had a mouse experience. I was stacking some wood outside my front door where my dad had put it after he split it. It was wet after the rain and needed to dry out. I noticed one dry piece up against the wall with a deep hole in the middle. I thought, (but I shouldn't have) "Wow, just about the right size for a mouse..." So, I checked it out very closely before I took it inside...all was well. I went back outside and continued stacking wood. I picked up one piece and apparently it had a mouse tail attached to it, because a big, fluffy, field mouse came flipping out from under it, tumbling and spinning, trying to get away from me as I yelled, "Oh, Dear God Almighty!!!" (It was a true call for salvation!) Thank goodness I had a thick pair of leather gloves on, because if I had actually touched the fur or the tail, I don't think I would be living to tell you about it.
Anyhoo...thought you might need the laugh and I definitely needed to sit down and get my heart rate back to normal.
