The Cat's Outta The Bag

This is a tale of coincidences that pretty much go above and beyond what is considered a normal coincidence.

I was riding home in the backseat of Ronnie and Marybeth's car Sunday night, it was real late and everyone was just kinda going down the road in a daze. Marybeth turned around and said to me "Did you know we got a new kitten?"

Now right here I'm gonna back up to about Tuesday of that week. We had worked cattle and after that was done I'd stopped at my folk's house to see how they were doing and while sitting there on their front porch I watched one of their kittens climb up underneath my truck. I spent about 20 minutes trying to get it out, it went from on top of the spare to running down the top of the frame to on top of the transmission and back again to on top of the spare. We talked about it and from past experience we figured it'd stay put and and probably jump off at our house and then we'd bring it back.

Out in our driveway later that day I heard it meowing under the truck... so out I went again to try and get it out. No luck. It just stayed out of reach, so I figured it would come out that night.

The next day passed and I didn't see or hear anything out of the kitten so I assumed it went on with it's little cat life elsewhere and that was that. So now let's skip forward to Thursday night, and the gig we played. As we left that night I had the window down on the truck and I heard the cat meow under it as I pulled onto the highway and I said to Sally "I CANNOT believe that damned cat is STILL under the truck!"

So now skip back to the first of the story... Sunday night and Marybeth telling me about her new kitten.

She said as they were leaving the Expo Center on Thursday night, Martina bailed out of the truck in the middle of the highway to rescue this little kitten that was wandering around on the road. She chased it around a bit and snagged it and they took it up to Ronnie and Marybeth's cabin.

Me: Uh... I don't suppose that kitten was black with a calico face was it?

MB: *stunned* Yeah, it was... did you see it?

Me: It's my folks cat and I told 'em how the thing had rode around for 2 or 3 days under my truck and I must heard it as it finally bailed out as we were leaving the Expo Center. Martina came along behind us a bit later, saw it, jumped out and saved it.

MB: That is unbelievable.

Me: Pretty much...

Anyhow it's happy at it's new home and is getting treated like a little queen I'm sure.

Coincidences. Amazing.

I'd say that's one lucky little kitty.

We had a kitten once, mom brought it home from work, it hitched a ride under her car. I've heard of others not being so lucky to make it alive. I love the small world quality of this story! A cat with a story!!!!! :-)

That demonstrates exactly why I never trust kittens with my wallet.

I don't have that kind of luck with farm kitties, we'll leave it right there or I'll start crying!!!

Happy Tuesday!

I love this story!

I hope he (she?) leads a quiet existence at Martina's because he (she?) only has two lives left.

oh Lordy, that is way better than what happened to the one that must have climbed up under my station wagon about 25 years ago.
I won't even go into it, but lets say that the maintenance guy at the bank drive through had to do some extra cleaning.
baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad memories!

WHAT??? I had dog in college and went I went out of town for a few weeks while I was home one summer, my Mom GAVE IT AWAY.

I'm not kidding.

Anyway, 3 days later, my dog was sitting at our back door. He ran away and found me.

Unless the new family couldn't tolerate him and dropped him off anonymously.

I still never figured it out.
